Educational Attainment

Tables 48a, 48b, 49a, and 49b: In 2007, of the 3,612,960 individuals with disabilities ages 18 to 34 years living in the community that are not currently enrolled, 1,014,950 individuals (or 28.1 percent) had less than a high school diploma or equivalent, 1,545,194 individuals (or 42.8 percent) had a high school diploma or equivalent, 796,934 individuals (or 22.1 percent) had some college experience, and 255,882 individuals (or 7.1 percent) had a bachelor’s degree or higher. By comparison, of the 44,877,540 individuals without disabilities ages 18 to 34 years living in the community that are not currently enrolled, 7,010,647 individuals (or 15.6 percent) had less than a high school diploma or equivalent,; 15,343,115 individuals (or 34.2 percent) had a high school diploma or equivalent, 11,568,988 individuals (or 25.8 percent) had some college experience, and 10,954,790 individuals (or 24.4 percent) had a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Tables 50a and 50b: Of the 744,331 individuals with sensory disabilities ages 18 to 34 years living in the community that are not currently enrolled, 186,408 individuals (or 25.0 percent) had less than a high school diploma or equivalent, 308,334 individuals (or 41.4 percent) had a high school diploma or equivalent, 178,465 individuals (or 24.0 percent) had some college experience, and 71,124 individuals (or 9.6 percent) had a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Tables 51a and 51b: Of the 1,442,857 individuals with physical disabilities ages 18 to 34 years living in the community that are not currently enrolled, 400,226 individuals (or 27.7 percent) had less than a high school diploma or equivalent, 601,780 individuals (or 41.7 percent) had a high school diploma or equivalent, 343,952 individuals (or 23.8 percent) had some college experience, and 96,899 individuals (or 6.7 percent) had a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Tables 52a and 52b: Of the 1,860,125 individuals with mental disabilities ages 18 to 34 years living in the community that are not currently enrolled, 620,221 individuals (or 33.3 percent) had less than a high school diploma or equivalent, 832,221 individuals (or 44.7 percent) had a high school diploma or equivalent, 322,059 individuals (or 17.3 percent) had some college experience, and 85,624 individuals (or 4.6 percent) had a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Tables 53a and 53b: Of the 503,780 individuals with self-care disabilities ages 18 to 34 years living in the community that are not currently enrolled, 181,776 individuals (or 36.1 percent) had less than a high school diploma or equivalent, 206,914 individuals (or 41.1 percent) had a high school diploma or equivalent, 85,655 individuals (or 17.0 percent) had some college experience, and 29,435 individuals (or 5.8 percent) had a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Tables 54a and 54b: Of the 973,875 individuals with go-outside-home disabilities ages 18 to 34 years living in the community that are not currently enrolled: 338,223 individuals (or 34.7 percent) had less than a high school diploma or equivalent; 431,224 individuals (or 44.3 percent) had a high school diploma or equivalent, 159,524 individuals (or 16.4 percent) had some college experience, 44,904 individuals (or 4.6 percent) had a bachelor’s degree or higher.

Tables 55a and 55b: Among the 1,890,969 individuals with employment disabilities ages 18 to 34 years living in the community that are not currently enrolled, 614,157 individuals (or 32.5 percent) had less than a high school diploma or equivalent, 823,976 individuals (or 43.6 percent) had a high school diploma or equivalent, 361,785 individuals (or 19.1 percent) had some college experience, and 91,051 individuals (or 4.8 percent) had a bachelor’s degree or higher.
