Vocational Rehabilitation

Table 78: In the Federal Fiscal Year 2007, state vocational rehabilitation agencies processed 589,639 applicants.

Table 79: In the Federal Fiscal Year 2007, state vocational rehabilitation agencies closed 341,030 cases of individuals that either initiated or completed services.

Table 80: In the Federal Fiscal Year 2007, state vocational rehabilitation agencies closed 202,728 cases of individuals that either initiated or completed services in which the individuals entered successful employment.

Table 81: In the Federal Fiscal Year 2007, of 341,030 closed cases of individuals that either initiated or completed services, 59.4 percent achieved successful employment; i.e., a rehabilitation rate of 59.4 percent. The agency with the highest rehabilitation was the Connecticut blind agency with 87.0 percent, while the agency with the lowest rehabilitation rate was the Hawaii combined agency.

Table 81. Vocational Rehabilitation—Rehabilitation Rate: Federal Fiscal Year 2007

In some states there are separate agencies for the blind. The rehabilitation rate is the number of closures with successful employment outcomes divided by the number of closures after initiating or completing services.
