Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's (FMCSA)National Registry Auditing Support Services
This project provides auditing support services to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) for monitoring medical examiners (MEs) on the National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners. With over 89,000 certified MEs conducting physical exams for millions of commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers, this contract ensures compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs). New Editions performs both random and “for cause” audits of MEs’ examination records—reviewing Medical Examination Reports (MERs) and Certificates (MECs)—to verify proper documentation and adherence to standards. Findings are documented using standardized checklists and summaries in the National Registry system.
Additional responsibilities include validating MEs’ medical licenses by verifying renewal status with state boards within three business days of updates, supporting the removal of non-compliant MEs from the Registry, and assisting with voiding improperly issued medical certificates. New Editions also maintains audit case files and supports FMCSA decision-making through timely reporting. Optional tasks may include statistical analysis to refine audit sampling strategies and surge capacity via an additional analyst when workload demands increase. These services help the FMCSA uphold the integrity of the National Registry and advance its mission to improve CMV safety.
